AC Milan beware: White Pele “fit to play” claims manager

Manchester United striker and talisman Wayne Rooney, who bagged a brace in the Red Devils’ 3-2 win at the San Siro, is fit to play in Wednesday’s second leg Champions League tie against AC Milan, according to manager Alex Ferguson.

"He is fit, I am glad to say that he is fit. He has showed a rapid improvement since Saturday morning. He was extremely doubtful, but he is OK," said Ferguson at a Sky News press conference, according to a report in the Sporting Life.

Rooney was considered a major doubt for the return leg at Old Trafford after picking up a knee injury which ruled him out of United’s 1-0 victory over Wolves at the weekend.

The ‘White Pele’, as he is referred to by Manchester United supporters, picked up the injury on England international duty against Egypt and aggravated the problem after coming off the bench in the Carling Cup final.
