VILLARREAL, SPAIN – Villarreal host Napoli in their final Champions League Group A fixture on Wednesday, and will be hoping to secure a consolation victory after what has been an utterly disastrous European campaign. The hosts have not secured a single point in their five games thus far, and it is therefore unsurprising that Napoli start the game as 3/4 (bet £4 to make £3 profit) favourites with Victor Chandler. Villarreal, on the other hand, are on offer at a longer 4/1 with Stan James, whilst the draw can be backed at 11/4 with Ladbrokes.
Group A has been fiercely competitive, as Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also battled alongside the aforementioned two clubs. Bayern currently top the group with an impressive 13 points from their five fixtures, whilst Napoli are one point ahead of City with 8 points. If Napoli collect a victory away against Villarreal, therefore, they will secure qualification to the latter stages of the competition, and condemn City to play Europa League football. Manager Walter Mazzarri will be urging his players to fight tooth and nail in order to secure the desired result, and in the process become the first Italian side to secure a victory away at the Camp El Madrigal.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is evens with Bet365, whilst under 2.5 goals can be backed at 10/11 with Ladbrokes. For those punters expecting this crucial fixture to culminate in an anticlimactic goalless draw, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at 10/1 with Stan James.
Napoli’s Edinson Cavani has been on dangerous form in front of goal this season, netting four goals in five Champions League appearances and seven goals in the Serie A. Unsurprisingly Cavani starts the match as favourite to be the first name on the score sheet, and can be backed at best odds of 4/1 with William Hill. Cavani’s team mate Ezequiel Lavezzi is also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and is on offer to score first at 6/1 with Ladbrokes. Villarreal’s most threatening attacking player, on the other hand, is thought to be Marco Ruben, who can be backed to break the deadlock at 10/1 with Bet365.
Napoli are quoted at best odds of 7/4 with Betinternet to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Napoli is on offer at 7/2 with Skybet. Draw/Villarreal is available at a longer 9/1 with Blue Square, whilst Napoli/Villarreal can be backed at odds as long as 50/1 with Boylesports.
