PARIS, FRANCE - Paris host newly promoted Guingamp at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon and the champions will look to build on their late victory over Nantes after they opened the new campaign with consecutive draws against Montpellier and Ajaccio. Guingamp face a daunting trip to the French capital this afternoon but with a win already under their belts this season they will be confident of troubling their illustrious opponents here.
Paris come into this game off the back of a 14 match Ligue 1 unbeaten run and have won their last three home matches against today's opposition and as a result they have been chalked up as the short-priced favourites at 1.2 with Paddy Power to secure the three points. Guingamp are likely to spend large periods of this game without the ball, on the back foot given the gulf in class between the two squads and the visitors are friendless in the betting at 19.0 with Boylesports while a draw is a standout 7.0 with the same firm.
Laurent Blanc welcomes back French international Jeremy Menez who has finally recovered from the back injury which he sustained at the end of last season for this visit of Guingamp and with no other injury worries or suspensions he is expected to field his first choice XI this afternoon. The only other team news is that Liverpool target Mamadou Sakho has not been included in the squad for this contest as the defender has travellled to Merseyside to complete his medical at the Reds.
Guingamp finally got off the mark in Ligue 1 last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Lorient last weekend following defeats against leaders Marseille and Saint-Etienne. Jocelyn Gourvennec's side will be without veteran striker Cedric Faure for this trip to Paris while it is unclear whether defender Gregory Cerdan, who missed last week's win due to personal reasons, will be available for selection for his side's toughest assignment to date.
Paris are quoted at 1.67 with BetVictor to be leading at the end of both halves in the popular Half-time/Full-time betting but the preference in this market is for a Draw/Paris double result which has been supported into 4.2 with William Hill. Elsewhere in this market a draw at the end of both periods is an 11.0 chance with Stan James while Guingamp are a standout 46.0 with Coral to be ahead at both the interval and at the end of 90 minutes of football.
Paris are yet to keep a clean sheet this season but despite this fact the most favoured scoreline in the Correct Score betting is a 2-0 victory for the hosts which is a standout 7.0 with Ladbrokes, which certainly makes some appeal. A win by three goals to nil comes next at 8.0 with the same firm while Stan James go 8.5 on a home victory by a goal to nil. Paris have been quite vulnerable at the back this term and a 2-1 scoreline in their favour is at 11.5 with BetVictor while a 1-1 stalemate is an industry best price of 16.0 with the same firm. Blanc has an embarrassment of riches to choose from but he doesn't appear to have sorted out the defensive issues that have plagued the champions' start to the season and so the 2.38 with Coral on both teams to score certainly is a tempting bet here. It would be a huge shock if Guingamp stole the three points and Coral go a massive 81.0 on the away side snatching a 1-0 victory in Paris.
Paris have averaged a staggering 20 shots in their opening three games of the season and with so much attacking talent at their disposal it is likely to be a long afternoon for the visitors. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on something of a goal drought at present but last season's golden boot is such a threat in front of goal that he remains installed at the head of the First Goalscorer betting at 3.6 with Ladbrokes while Edinson Cavani is a 4.0 chance with bet365 which appeals given his early form for his new club. Further down this market Ezequiel Lavezzi is a 6.0 chance with Ladbrokes to bag the game's opening goal while winger Jeremy Menez looks big at 9.5 with BetVictor if he returns to the staring XI this afternoon. The most prominent player for Guingamp is last season's Ligue 2 top scorer Mastapha Yatabare at 21.0 with bet365 and he has been the only player to find the back of the net for the visitors in the league this season.
This match kicks off at 16.00 BST on Saturday 31st August and all the action is broadcast live via bet365's live streaming service.
