NICE, FRANCE - Paris Saint-Germain lost their position at the top of Ligue 1 last night, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side have the chance to overtake Montpellier tonight if they can get a result away at Nice in Southern France.
PSG are hot favourites to win the match, and can be backed at 19/20 (bet £200 to make £190 profit) with Boylesports to pick up three points in the Cote d’Azur. A draw is a 12/5 shot with Bet Victor, whilst a home win for Nice is available at 18/5 with bwin, which is a shade more generous than the 7/2 with William Hill.
Nice slipped down into nineteenth spot in the league after Auxerre picked up a draw against Lorient yesterday afternoon, but few will be expecting Les Aiglons to leap out the red zone this evening. Paris are unstoppable at the moment under Ancelotti, whereas Nice’s last win in the league came before Christmas. However the hosts do boast a strong record against the Parisians, as they have won five or their previous six league confrontations at the Stade du Ray. Gabon international Mouloungui is back from Africa Cup of Nations duty and should play as the lone striker for the home side this evening.
Paris have a 100% record in Ligue 1 with Ancelotti as manager, and up to this point, the future is looking bright for the Qatari-owned club. January signings Motta and Maxwell are both expected to start for the visitors, whilst star player Javier Pastore is still unavailable for selection. Nevertheless, it looks like Paris will field a strong team, with an attack comprised of Nene, Gameiro and Menez. Ex-Chelsea defender Alex could make his debut for PSG this evening, and if he does it will probably be in the place of the disappointing Diego Lugano.
In the correct score betting, the favoured outcome is a 1-0 away win for PSG, which can be backed at 11/2 with Coral and William Hill. A 1-1 draw would probably satisfy the home fans at 6/1 with William Hill, whilst Nice are 9/1 with bet365 to win by a goal to nil, and the firm will refund losing correct score bets if the game finishes goalless. 2-0 to PSG is 17/2 with Coral, but considering that they conceded a goal to Evian last weekend, the 2-1 win for Paris could be a better investment at 8/1 with Bodog and bet365.
In the absence of Pastore, the first goalscorer betting is headed by Kevin Gameiro, who is at 9/2 with Irish bookie Paddy Power. Gameiro has had an in-and-out season, scoring 10 goals, although fans are expecting more from the ex-Lorient star. With talk about a move for Carlos Tevez throughout January, it is time for Gameiro to start delivering consistently. Next is Brazilian playmaker Nene, who is second in the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 11 goals and can be backed at 6/1 with bet365 to net first. It is particularly significant that Nene takes penalties, which makes the 6/1 look even better. Menez is an 8/1 poke with Bet Victor, and at bigger prices Alex could be worth a second look at 22/1 with bwin and Paddy Power. Nice’s Mouloungui is 10/1 with Sky Bet to score first.
PSG are 21/10 with bet365 to lead the game at both half-time and full-time, and it is 4/1 with Blue Square for Draw/PSG. Nice/Nice is 7/1 with totesport, and it is evens with William Hill that both teams score in the game.
Paris remain red-hot favourites at 1/3 with Sky Bet to win the title, whilst Nice are 6/4 with Paddy Power for the drop.
Finally Nene’s fans can back him at 14/1 with bet365 to score two or more goals in the game. William Hill are clearly looking to keep the Brazilian onside as they offer just 5/1 on at least a brace of goals.
The match kicks-off at 5.00pm local time on Sunday 12 February, which is 4.00pm in the UK. It is live on the bet365 live streaming service.
