Carling Cup: Cardiff City v Burnley Odds and Betting Preview

CARDIFF, UK - Two Championship sides meet in this Carling Cup Fourth Round tie at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening when the hosts face Burnley. The Bluebirds have been handed their third consecutive home-tie in this competition and have a strong chance of making it to the quarter-finals. Cardiff are the even money favourites for this tie at Ladbrokes and bet365. The visitors, Burnley, are available at a standout 3/1 with Stan James whilst a draw over 90 minutes is 5/2 at Betfred.

Cardiff will be without forwards Kenny Miler and Rudy Gestede for this home tie. Miller was forced off in their 5-3 victory over Barnsley at the weekend and the 20 stitches that were required to patch his head wound have taken longer than expected to heal. These two sides met in the league back in August and played out a 1-1 draw but Cardiff will hope to use their home advantage to succeed on Tuesday.

Burnley managed a change in their fortunes at the weekend winning at Coventry following a run of two defeats and will hope to take momentum from that away win into Tuesday’s game. Burnley have been forced to win in extra-time in three of their last four matches in the Cup and they will look to maintain an 100 per cent record against the Welsh side in this competition.

Cardiff’s last three games have produced 19 goals and so over 2.5 goals has been priced up as a 10/11 chance in the Over/Under betting with Stan James.Under this same 2.5 goal margin is 11/10 at William Hill and any bettors that predict the match will only contain a single goal, can back under 1.5 goals at 3/1 with Boylesports.

William Hill make a one-all draw head of the Correct Score market at 13/2 and offer a best priced 8/1 on a 1-0 home victory. Cardiff are 17/2 at betinternet to win by a 2-1 score line and 10/1 to score two goals without conceding. Burnley are 12/1 with bet365 to come away with a 1-0 victory and with it a place in the quarter-finals of this competition.

Kenny Miller still remains at the top of the First Goalscorer market but look set to be watching this match on the sidelines. bet365 make him a 5/1 chance whilst Skybet quote odds of 11/2 on Robert Earnshaw to net the first goal for Cardiff. The promising youngster Joe Mason may be handed a start and is priced up at 15/2 with bet365 to be the first name on the score-sheet. The most prominent player for Burnley is Charlie Austin at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
