GENOA, ITALY – Reigning champions AC Milan travel away on Friday to face Genoa in their hotly anticipated Serie A clash. AC are currently nine points ahead of their opponents in the table, and it is unsurprising that they start the game as 10/11 (bet £11 to make £10 profit) favourites with William Hill. For those punters anticipating an upset, however, Genoa are on offer at longer odds of 7/2 with Victor Chandler, whilst the draw can be backed at 5/2 with William Hill.
AC Milan have won six of their last seven league fixtures, and currently trail Juventus by only two points at the top of Serie A. In order to continue applying pressure to the league leaders, AC must win once again on Friday. Manager Massimiliano Allegri will feel confident of doing so, having secured an emphatic 4-0 win against Chievo Verona on Sunday. Genoa, by direct contrast, lost 2-0 away against Cesena in their last match – the team who are currently second from bottom in the league. The result was bitterly disappointing, and Alberto Malesani will be desperate to get things back on track with a victory against AC.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 21/20 with William Hill, whilst under 2.5 goals can be backed at 17/20 with Bet365. For those punters expecting this crucial encounter to end in a dreary goalless draw, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at considerably longer odds of 9/1 with Stan James.
Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been on characteristically dangerous form in front of goal for AC so far this season, netting seven goals in nine league appearances. Unsurprisingly Ibrahimovic starts the match as favourite to be the first name on the score sheet, and can currently be backed at best odds of 9/2 with Victor Chandler. Ibrahimovic’s team mate Pato is also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and is on offer at a slightly longer 11/2 with William Hill to open the scoring. Genoa’s most threatening attacking player, on the other hand, is thought to be Andrea Caracciolo, who is available to break the deadlock at 7/1 with Boylesports.
Milan are quoted at best odds of 11/5 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Milan is on offer at 4/1 with Blue Square. Draw/Genoa is available at 8/1 with Paddy Power, whilst those punters who think that the home side will fight back to win the match after trailing at the half time break can back Milan/Genoa at odds as long as 50/1 with Boylesports.
