Serie A: Napoli v Udinese Odds and Betting Preview

NAPLES, ITALY – Napoli host Udinese this evening in their crucial Serie A clash at the Stadio San Paolo. Napoli are currently fifth in the league, four points behind second-place Udinese. Despite the fact that they are trailing their opponents in the table Napoli start the game as 10/11 (bet £11 to make £10 profit) favourites with Paddy Power. Those punters who think that the away side will triumph, however, can back Udinese at best odds of 4/1 with William Hill, whilst the draw is on offer at 23/10 with Ladbrokes.

Napoli have only gained one point from their last two matches, losing 2-1 at home to Parma before drawing 0-0 away against Cagliari. Walter Mazzarri's side, who finished 3rd in the Serie A last season, will be confident that they can do much better, and such confidence would not be misplaced as they have recorded impressive wins against both AC and Inter Milan already this season. They will need to up their intensity significantly to beat Udinese, however, who are unbeaten in the league so far this season, and currently trail Juventus by only one point at the top of the table.

In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals is 10/11 with Stan James, whilst under 2.5 goals can be backed at 8/11 with Boylesports. Those punters who suspect that this game will end in a goalless stalemate, however, can back under 0.5 goals at 8/1 with Coral.

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has been Napoli's most dangerous player up front this season, scoring three goals so far in the Serie A, and is currently 5/1 favourite with Coral to score first in this evening's game. Cavani's team mate Ezequiel Lavezzi is also thought likely to be the first name on the score sheet, and can be backed at 7/1 with Ladbrokes. Udinese's most dangerous striker, on the other hand, is Antonio Di Natale. Di Natale has top scored in the Serie A for the last two seasons in a row, and has already hit the net six times this campaign. The Italian ace is available at best odds of 7/1 with William Hill to break the deadlock.

Napoli are quoted at best odds of 12/5 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Napoli is on offer at 4/1 with Coral. Draw/Udinese is available at 9/1 with Betinternet, whilst those punters who think that Udinese will win the match after trailing at half time can back Napoli/Udinese at odds as long as 50/1 with Boylesports.

Incredible amount of betting on this match. $800,000 matched on Betfair compared to usual $30,000 on the other matches 11-10 down to 20-23. Someone really fancies the home side!

Interesting...and when money talks in Italy it usually means something.

Klose has put Napoli 1-0 up after 17 mins.

You'd think that Udinese want to focus more on the Europa Cup than the league, so perhaps they've decided this is the best course in life.

One of the UK's top pro punters put up Udinese as a 6 point bet tonight...surprised he did so given the way the money was flowing.

Oh dear that's -6pts! I wonder what he reasoning was considering they were away to a side odds-on and still being heavily backed.

Is there a hint of foul play here given the amount of money that was placed on Betfair?
