Serie A: Genoa v Roma Odds and Betting Preview

GENOA, ITALY – Genoa host AS Roma this evening in their Serie A match-up at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Having started the season positively Genoa have recently gone off the boil, failing to secure a victory in their last four league fixtures. They will be desperate to return to winning ways this evening, and are currently 13/8 (bet £8 to make £13 profit) favourites with Stan James to do so. Football pundits are billing this match as a very close encounter, however, and Roma are currently on offer to win at very slightly longer odds of 15/8 with Victor Chandler, whilst the draw can be backed at 9/4 with Ladbrokes.

Despite only gaining two points in their last four games – a miserable record on the face of it – there are positive signs for the home side's manager. Alberto Malesani will have been delighted with his side's gutsy 2-2 draw against league leaders Juventus in their last match, where Andrea Caracciolo's 85th minute equaliser secured a vital point away from home. If Genoa can show the same focus and commitment this evening then Roma will have a tough fight on their hands. Roma, by direct contrast, started their season badly before improving radically. Luis Enrique's side have won three of their last four games, and are currently two points ahead of Genoa in the table.

In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 19/20 with Bet365, whilst under 2.5 goals is available at an identical 19/20 with the same bookmaker. For those punters who are anticipating a goalless stalemate, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at longer odds of 10/1 with William Hill.

Rodrigo Palacio has been extremely effective in front of goal for Genoa so far this season, scoring five Serie A goals already, and can be backed to open the scoring tonight at best odds of 6/1 with Boylesports. Roma's Pablo Osvaldo and Francesco Totti are deemed to be equally likely to break the deadlock, and can also be backed to do so at 6/1 with Boylesports and William Hill respectively.

Genoa are quoted at best odds of 4/1 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Genoa is on offer at a slightly longer 11/2 with Coral. Draw/Roma is available at the same price of 11/2 with Paddy Power, whilst those punters who think that Roma will fight back to win the match after trailing at half time can back Genoa/Roma at 28/1 with Bet365.
