Serie A: S.S. Lazio v AS Roma Odds and Betting Preview

ROME, ITALY – Lazio and Roma lock horns this Sunday in one of the highlights of the Italian football calendar, the Derby della Capitale. Lazio are the slight favourites for the contest, at a best price of 8/5 with Bet365. Roma are 15/8 with Coral to claim the derby spoils whilst the draw is an 11/5 chance at Paddy Power.

Champions League chasing Roma enter Derby week in sixth place in the Serie A table, after picking up eight points from their opening five matches. After a turbulent start to his reign, new manager Luis Enrique has guided his side to consecutive victories over Parma and Atlanta and will now have his eyes firmly set on his first derby triumph. The Giallorossi have been the dominant force in recent derby matches, winning each of the last five, but will be without iconic club captain Francesco Totti for this weekend’s encounter.

Lazio have similar ambitions of a place in the top four and qualification for Europe’s elite competition this season and are currently seventh in a wide-open Serie A table. Under-pressure manager Edy Reja will be targeting his first ever victory over Roma this weekend to stave off his critics and will be lifted by top scorer Miroslav Klose’s expected return from injury. The former Bayern Munich man has recaptured his finest form in the first five matches of the campaign, with three goals and a pair of assists and is likely to be vital to the Biancocelesti’s chances this weekend.

Lazio are 15/2 at Bet365 to win the match by a goal to nil with 2-1 to Edy Reja’s men a 9/1 chance at Ladbrokes. Roma can be backed at 8/1 to record a 1-0 victory with Bet365 whilst 2-1 to the Giallorossi is a 11/1 shot with Betfred. William Hill offer an industry best 6/1 on the 1-1 draw whilst a goalless affair is a 9/1 chance at Bet365.

Paddy Power offer 11/10 on three or more goals being scored in the match whilst four or more is a 5/2 chance with Bet365. Punters expecting a low scoring affair can back less than three goals being scored at 4/5 with Victor Chandler whilst less than two is a 12/5 shot at Bet365.

Lazio’s Miroslav Klose is the favourite to open the scoring in the encounter, at a best price of 6/1 with Coral. Former Liverpool hitman Djibril Cisse is a 13/2 chance to break the deadlock with Bet365 whilst Brazilian midfielder Hernanes is a 10/1 shot at Ladbrokes. Former Barcelona striker Bojan is Roma’s top chance to break the deadlock at 15/2 with Bet365. Pablo Osvaldo, who has scored in each of his last three appearances, is a 7/1 chance in the market with Ladbrokes.

The Match Kicks off at 1945 BST with live coverage on ESPN.

Tough one to call, but i'm saying Roma to edge it. Should be a great match whatever the outcome!
