Bookies braced for World Cup final betting bonanza

LADBROKES ARE bracing themselves for the biggest and busiest football match in betting history.

With up to £40 million expected to be wagered across the industry on the mouthwatering final between Germany and Argentina, it looks like the match could enter the betting record books as turnover looks set to go through the roof, surpassing the previous record set in the 2012 Champions League final.

Germany head into Sunday's showdown as the odds-on favourites to lift the trophy at 8/11 and 13/10 to get the win within 90 minutes, and the firm can report that a staggering 75% of all wagers placed across both markets has been for Joachimw's side to be crowned champions of the world.

And with Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller still in with a shout of being the tournament's top goalscorer, punters have been backing them in their droves to open the scoring with two in every three bets being for the pair.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Sunday's clash of the titans is going to see betting records go through the roof. Despite both teams being old enemies of England, punters have been backing Germany to demolish their second South American side in a week."
