Ladbrokes: Three Lionesses ready to roar & bookies cheering them on

AN ENGLAND victory in a World Cup tournament this summer will be a great result for the bookies according to Ladbrokes.

Turning the traditional theory of the patriotic pound pummelling bookies on its head, the Three Lionesses go into the Women's World Cup in Germany relatively unfancied 14/1 shots.

Hosts Germany have been well backed at even money with second favourites Brazil also popular at 9/2.

England's women are 11/2 to be eliminated from the tournament on penalties and it's 10/11 they go home after the quarter finals.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "We're proud to be patriotic for once. England's women winning the World Cup would be a fantastic result as it's Germany who have been backed off the boards."
