High Stakes legend Isildur1 joins Team PokerStars Pro

SWEDEN - Isildur1, the legendary unknown Swedish poker player who took on the best in the world, all at once, at the highest stakes possible online, has been signed up by PokerStars as part of their Team Pro in what could be their greatest signing ever

Isildur1 was famous for playing at PokerStars' main rival, Full Tilt and competing for the biggest pot in the history of online poker in a $500/$1000 Pot-Limit Omaha match against Finnish pro Patrik Antonius. The biggest pot totaled $1,356,947 and was won by Antonius, who held a A-5 straight on the flop against a huge straight draw held by Isildur1.

Even though he nearly busted Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Isildur1 eventually lost all his winnings and more. According to various poker tracking websites he is down nearly $3 million from his excapades on Full Tilt Poker. It is unknown how much the player, believed to be Viktor Blom, has won at other sites, especially the European facing ones, as the results on these sites are hardly tracked at all.

In a statement on the PokerStars blog, Isildur1 said, "I chose to join PokerStars because it's the biggest site and it will be an exciting challenge. It means a great deal to be playing in a team alongside players such as Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri and Johnny Lodden. My goals now are to improve my live game for some upcoming events, continue to focus on no-limit heads-up Hold'em, but also try to develop my Pot Limit Omaha game."

PokerStars are making sure that the Swede gets to the felt as quickly as possible by announcing the SuperStar Showdown : a series of Heads-Up (one on one) high stakes cash games played over four tables in a single session of 2,500 hands. According to PokerStars, The hands will be split evenly across four tables of No Limit Hold'Em and Pot Limit Omaha, at stakes no lower than $50/$100. The winner of the match will be the player that shows a profit after all 2,500 hands have been played. Added to the winnings made by either player at the tables, the players will be competing for a bonus of at least 300 big blinds ($30,000 minimum).

The SuperStar Showdown will take place once per week and begins on 19th December, Isildur1's opponents will change from invited players to someone who responds to Isildur1's open challenge. It will be interesting to see whether any of Isildur1's opponents at Full Tilt Poker will be invited by PokerStars to take on the legend once again.

In other poker news, German high stakes Limit-Hold'em player IHateJuice has had his own table opened at Full Tilt Poker with limits of $3000/$6000, making it easily the highest Limit table online. The player requested Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey ask Full Tilt to open the new table as the $2000/$4000 limit wasn't high enough for him!
