Weekend Picks From Spain

Stephen Fry analyzes a pair of matchups from the weekend action in Spain.

Barcelona currently share second place in Spain’s Primera Division with Villarreal, they are both on fifty nine points and seven points adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.

Barcelona travel to fourth bottom placed Recreativo Huelva on Saturday, and will be pinning their hopes on three points to try and close the gap on the leaders.

The problem for Barca is that they have only won once in their last six matches and I think their hopes for the championship will fade even more after this weekend’s games.

I certainly would be having no confidence at all in backing Barca and feel the draw is the right option as Huelva are fighting to stay in Spain’s top flight.

Real Murcia travel to the Bernabeu on Sunday to face the leaders Real Madrid.

Murcia have never won at the Bernabeu and I see no reason why they should turn this around this weekend.

Javier Clemente the ex Real and Spain coach is quoted as saying that they will ‘park a bus and a train in front of the goal’ in order to try and stop the league leaders taking another three points.

With the coaches above comments in mind, I am opting for a bet on the Half Time/Full Time market.

Take Draw/Real (Draw half time and Real to go on and win the game) the visitors could well hang on for 45 minutes, but I see them eventually succumbing to the leaders, generally this is a 4/1 shot, so make sure you shop around for the best available price.
