La Liga 3 & 4 Nov

Ben Green's expert picks for Spanish La Liga football games on 3rd and 4th November 2007.

Saturday’s games

Valencia will travel to Mallorca and it is difficult to predict how they will react to new manager Ronald Koeman. In my experience I would say that teams tend to play well for new managers, however this is not always the case and Valencia are in a bad run of form. This uncertainty makes me inclined to leave this match alone, this is a no bet for me.

The other match on Saturday is a clash of the titans, as Real Madrid take on Sevilla. The visitors are in good form and will be keen to maintain their advantage at the top of the table. The question also arises, has Ramos’s exit left Sevilla in a state of disarray? I think the team will undoubtedly have been affected by the departure of their manager and so I will be siding with Real Madrid for this contest. Whereas Sevilla lost midweek, Real thumped Valencia 5-1 and so one camp will be in confidence and one will not. I recommend a two point bet on Real (level) at 1.96.

[Sevilla won 2-0]

Sunday’s games

One of the big matches of the weekend sees Villarreal travel to Madrid where they take on Athletico. Both teams are in fantastic form currently lying 3rd and 5th in La Liga, I am tempted to back Athletico but I think this match will be a close call and I have another bet in mind. Both teams have been banging in goals left, right and centre and I think this match will be no different.Have a two point bet on over 2.5 goals at 2.04.

[Villarreal won 4-3]

Getafe travel to Osasuna, although they have improved lately, they are still in the bottom three and have lost all of their away games this season. After smashing Real Betis 3-0 on Wednesday the home side will be in a confident mood and I think they are a decent bet. Have a one point bet on Osasuna (-1/4) at 1.86.

[Getafe won 2-0]

None of the other games represent much value for me.
