La Liga 31 March & 1 April
Ben Green's expert picks for Spanish La Liga games on 31st March and 1st April 2007.
Saturday’s games
Real Betis welcome Villarreal to Seville's La Cartuja stadium as they have been banned from playing at their ground (for three matches) following the recent incident in the Copa Del Rey. Betis have managed to find a glimmer of form recently, but their last two games have been disappointing, they will be hoping to get back on track by claiming three points. Villarreal are in good form too, earning eight points from their last four matches. The one thing that Betis have managed to do recently is to stop their opponents from scoring and I think Villarreal will have trouble. Have a three point bet on Under 2.5 goals at 1.57.
[Betis drew 3-3]
Espanyol will travel to Valencia in the hope of extending their unbeaten run to 12 games. The home side have been up and down of late and they will need to get back in form in order to secure a Champion’s League spot. With Espanyol riding a wave of confidence I think they will be tough to beat and recommend a two point bet on them (+3/4) at 1.87.
[Espanyol lost 3-2]
Neither of the other two matches represent much value for me.
Sunday’s games
Although Athletico Madrid have had some disappointing results lately, they have all been against the top teams and they will be hoping to get their UEFA Cup campaign back on track with a win against Mallorca. Mallorca’s away form of late has been terrible, losing their last four matches. I think Athletico are worth a two point bet (-3/4) at 2.02.
[Athletico drew 1-1]
I am afraid that is the only match I will be betting on today as the bookies seem to have tied down all of the other matches and there is very little value to be found.
