Coppa Italia 17 & 18 Jan
Ben Green's expert picks for Copa Italia games on 17 & 18 January 2007.
Wednesday’s games
Sampdoria travel to Chievo with a 1-0 victory under their belt in the first leg of the Coppa Italia quarter-final. The flying donkeys have managed a few decent results recently and have moved away from the Serie A drop zone, confidence will be stronger and they will be going for it. I think the bookies have this match spot on and the odds do not look inviting, this is a no bet for me.
Parma are really struggling in Serie A and they face a Roma side tonight that beat them 2-1 in the 1st leg of this tie. Although Roma drew their last match 1-1 against Messina, they have been having a great run of results of late and are looking strong. Parma have lost their last two league games and will be looking to put in a decent performance to tonight.
I would recommend a two point bet on Roma (-1/2) at 1.80.
[Roma drew 2-2]
Inter beat Empoli 2-0 away from home in the 1st leg of the Coppa Italia. All Inter need to do now is avoid a 2-0 loss in order to go through to the next round. Empoli are a decent side, they are 6th in the Serie A and have been consistently churning out results all season. I think the bookies are slightly off with this match, Inter don’t even have to win this match and a handicap of +1 ½ looks too good to resist.
Have a three point bet on Empoli (+1 ½) at 2.08.
[Inter won 2-0]
Thursday’s games
Segunda Liga side Arezzo host AC Milan tonight, Milan have a 2-0 advantage from the last leg and so Arezzo will have it all to do. Although the home side are in the drop zone in the Segunda, recently they have put together a string of reasonable results and so are perhaps not as weak as one might expect. The bookies are giving absolutely nothing away on this match and so I will not be making a wager today.
