Trinidad & Tobago v England Picks

BetAsia has two selections for the Friendly between England and Trinidad & Tobago.

England head to the Caribbean to face Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday in what is Fabio Capello’s last chance to look at his squad until August and World Cup qualification season.

However, with the Champions League finalists (bar Rio Ferdinand) all not travelling, the game could just as easily turn into another stop-start bore with lots of fringe players expected to be given a run out.

Wednesday’s 2-0 win over a decent USA side offered encouragement for Egland but it’s hard to see what footballing lessons can be drawn from a game with the Soca Warriors. Ranked 88th in the world, the islanders bare form is actually pretty decent as they are unbeaten in their last seven games. However, none of these games were against sides ranked above them (including the likes of Barbados, Grenada & El Salvador) and their last competitive tournament, the CONCAFAF Gold Cup, saw them collect just one point and an early group stage exit.

England, meanwhile, are on an impressive run of winning their last seven consecutive friendlies against sides ranked outside the FIFA top 10, scoring 20 and conceding just three goals in the process.

It’s hard to see a depleted England not winning the game but given the 1/3 match odds and it being a friendly, there simply no value in that particular market. We prefer a couple of likely alternatives.
