FA Cup 5 & 6 Jan

George Oborne's Expert Picks for the FA Cup games on the 5th and 6th of January 2008.

Sunderland v Wigan

Wigan are looking like a revitalised side of late, they have taken points off Liverpool at Anfield and put five goals past Blackburn recently. The Black Cats meanwhile are in a pretty poor state and will surely be prioritising avoiding relegation over the FA Cup. The last thing Sunderland need is a replay away at Wigan or a lengthy cup run and it would be no surprise to me if Roy Keane fields a weakened side.

Wigan beat Sunderland 3-0 when they last met back in August and are currently far more confident in front of goal than Sunderland, so a repeat of such a result may well be on the cards.

Have a one point bet on a Wigan victory at odds of 3.8.

[Wigan won 3-0]

Watford v Crystal Palace

Palace have not lost in their last 13 games and took a huge 17 points from the seven games they played in December, earning Neil Warnock the Coca Cola Championship Manager of the month award. Palace should take the momentum of their excellent current form into this game and will be looking to get a result against Watford if possible.

Watford have looked shaky recently, they dropped too many points over the Christmas period and squandered their dominant place at the top of the Championship. Watford should be concentrating on retaining their place above the play off zone and may want to rest demoralised squad players in this FA Cup tie.

Have a one point bet on Palace winning the game at odds of 4.5 at William Hill.

Palace lost 2-0]

Chelsea v QPR

Chelsea are obvious favourites but it seems that they may have been priced a little too low. QPR will be relishing the idea of crossing London to visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and will do everything in their power to relive the QPR glory days.

Chelsea meanwhile could well go into the game asleep and it may well take them a while to realise that they have a game on their hands.

Have a one point bet on QPR (+2 ¼) at odds of 1.8 from PartyBets.com

[Chelsea won 1-0]
