Depending on which newspaper you read the Championship Play-Off Final is anything from a £30 million to a £60 million game, but one thing is for certain: either Hull or Bristol City will be playing Premiership football for the first time in their history next season.

Just one point separated these two in the league and given they finished third and fourth, it is fair to say both have earned their shot at the big time.

On bare form, Bristol City have the edge from the semi-finals, having won both legs (2-1 in each) against a Crystal Palace side who had only lost one of their last 12 coming into the tie. Contrast that with Hull, who breezed through against Watford (winning 2-0 away and 4-1 at home), but Watford had only won one of their last 14 to scrape into the play-offs on goal difference.

However, Bristol City come into the Wembley showpiece on the back of some very poor end of season form. They only mustered two wins from their last 11 Championship games. Meanwhile Hull put together a much stronger run-in, only losing two of their last nine (winning six of them) to catapult above their opponents into third place.
This is why we strongly believe the momentum is with Hull and why it could pay to back them in Saturday’s Play-Off Final. However, it could be tight: three of the last four finals have ended 1-0. So, if we’re siding with Hull and can only see them winning by a small margin it could pay to bet on a couple of likely scorelines.
