EPL 15 & 16 Dec
George Oborne's expert picks for English Premier League games on 15th and 16th December 2007.
Derby v Middlesbrough
Derby are still stuck on six points, firmly at the bottom of the Premiership and they do not look like giving up their place there anytime soon. Middlesbrough meanwhile are really pushing to escape the constraints of a lower league position and will be on cloud nine after not only beating but outclassing Arsenal last weekend.
Borough will have the confidence and motive to drub Derby and really get the ball rolling, Derby meanwhile will probably not go into the game with such high ambitions and I can see them easily succumbing to defeat.
Have a one point bet on Middlesbrough at odds of 2.42.
[Boro won 1-0]
Fulham v Newcastle
Fulham, other than a surprise victory against Reading, are continuing to look very poor as they dangle precariously above the drop zone. Newcastle meanwhile, after a slight lapse of confidence in their manager, are on great form having drawn with Arsenal and beaten Birmingham in recent weeks.
One however cannot shy away from the fact that the majority of Newcastle’s form has occurred at St James’s and Fulham have certainly enjoyed the home advantage this season so I believe a level bet to be the sensible option.
Have a one point bet on Newcastle (level) at 2.09
[Newcastle won 1-0]
West Ham v Everton
West Ham and Everton played mid week in the Carling Cup and Everton nipped it in the 88th minute with a brilliant Yakubu goal. This time there might not be the same pressure on Everton to win but as the bookies haven’t moved their line much the same bet stands.
Have a one point bet on Everton (level) at 2.07
[Everton won 2-0]
