Community Shield 5 Aug

Like all football fans, I am delighted to see the start of the new football season.

For a lot of bettors that means they will be able to have a serious bet for the first time in a while. That is generally a bad idea. Until you have some form to go on it is - I feel - very difficult to risk serious amounts of money.

I do though have a policy for the Community Shield. History has show that the underdog puts more effort into winning this contest than the favourite. This year is less good as an example as both sides are very strong but my gut feeling is Chelsea will want to win this more.

Chelsea are a team that likes to win these largely meaningless contests while history shows that United focus on the contests that really count. There are few reasons to believe that either side cares enormously about wiining this match up but at the odds on offer a one point bet on Chelsea at 2.01.
