Inter Milan v Liverpool
Champions League
Tuesday, 11 March 2008
7.45 (UK time)

As Arsenal sensationally dumped AC Milan out of this competition last week so Liverpool, leading 2-0 on aggregate, can do the same to Inter Milan on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have a great chance to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League and what will stand them in good stead is that Inter aren’t a naturally attacking side – but they will have to be if they are going to claw back the two goal deficit. This could force the Italian side out of their comfort zone and get them to play in a way that is alien to the current Serie A leaders.

While in the English Premier League Liverpool have been disappointing they continue to shine in the Champions League. Manager Rafa Benitez has already won this trophy and took his team to the final again last year. The style of football he promotes seems to be more effective on the continent than domestically – something else that will be to Liverpool’s advantage at the San Siro.

The other major factor is that Inter have serious problems with their defence with three key players out: Ivan Cordoba and Walter Samuel are injured while Marco Materazzi is suspended.

This could tee things up nicely for Liverpool and a goal from their in-form striker Fernando Torres could be on the cards.

So, have 1pt on Liverpool to win at 4/1 and another 1pt on Torres to score the first goal at 13/2.
