Olympiacos v W. Bremen

This is a tough game and Bremen must win to go through to the last 16. Olympiacos, however, are just as determined to win the game and have released a statement saying that they will “fight like madmen to win the game”. It seems that both teams are ready to give it their utmost to win the game.

Olympiacos have the home advantage and are on good form having won four of their last five and scoring seven in their last two league games. Bremen have conceded twice as many points away from home this season than they have conceded at home and have not yet won on the road in the Champions League. Bremen conceded four goals at the weekend whilst Olympiacos scored four and hence at odds of 2.84 to win the game I believe that Olympiacos are a value bet.

Roma v Man U

Manchester United are resting the vast majority of their first team and will let their youngsters play the game whilst Rooney will puts on the captains armband for the first time. Both teams are certified to go through and United are certain to finish top whatever happens. I therefore cannot see any reason for Roma to put in much effort.

Sir Alex’s youngsters meanwhile are all in the spotlight and will want to prove themselves after being embarrassed by Coventry in the Carling Cup. It seems that the difference between playing Coventry and playing Roma is that Coventry had everything to play for whilst Roma will have nothing to play for. Man U’s youngsters will have less pressure on them and will hopefully perform better as result of this.

At odds of 4.6 for a Man U victory a one point bet is the recommendation.

As an afterthought, looking at developments in the United camp today, it really looks like they are not going to be trying at all and therefore maybe one should proceed with caution if you have not yet had a punt on this game.
