CL 27 & 28 Nov

George Oborne's expert picks for UEFA Champions League football games on 27th and 28th November 2007.

Liverpool v. Porto

Liverpool need a win to qualify. They are, however, a club in difficulties. They are having managerial problems and it does look as if the divide between Benitez and the Liverpool board is almost irreparable. Porto meanwhile are on great form, not only are they top of the Portuguese league but they are also topping Group A and will look to certify their qualification to the last sixteen with a win.

Liverpool of course should be favourites but at odds of 9.00 on betfair, Porto are heavily undervalued and I think that backing them with a +1 Asian Handicap is a wise punt.

Have a one point bet on Porto (+1) at odds of 2.14 on Betfair.

[Liverpool won 4-1]

Stuttgart v Rangers

Stuttgart are yet to collect a point in the group stages, they have virtually no chance of claiming a UEFA cup place and really don’t have much to play for. They are struggling in the Bundesliga and will want to concentrate on pushing themselves up their domestic league rather than making futile efforts in Europe.
Rangers meanwhile look to further their qualification campaign with a win and would be foolish not to make sure of taking three points from the game after putting in such good performances against Lyon and Barcelona earlier in the group stages. A draw however would suffice for the time being and hence a +¼ Asian handicap is an attractive prospect in this game.

Back Rangers (+1/4) at 2.09 on Betfair.

[Rangers lost 3-2]

Benfica v Milan

Benfica are on the form of their life in the Portuguese league, scoring fifteen in their last five and not dropping a point in the same period. They are closing the gap on table leaders Porto and seem to be a team on serious form.
Milan meanwhile are struggling at 9th in Serie A and are probably overated by the bookies at 2.4 away from home. The Italian giants are more than 10 points off the top of the table and should be more concerned with qualifying for Europe next season rather than winning a game which is not a necessity for them to win.

Have Benfica (+1/4) at odds of 1.94.

[Benfica drew 1-1]
