It is the world's most watched sporting league and most lucrative football league, followed by over a billion people.
The FA Premier League was formed in 1992 (and branded as "The Premiership" in the United Kingdom from the 1993-94 season) from the top division of The Football League, and is currently contested by twenty clubs.
