Argentina odds tumble after 6-0 victory

The odds on Argentina winning the World Cup were slashed after the south Americans demolished Serbia & Montenegro in the most impressive performance of the tournament group stages.

Argentina are now top priced at 5.50 (9/2) after they guaranteed themselves qualification from the so-called 'Group of Death'.

The Argentinians are not far behind the Brazilians in the betting; the 2002 winners did not impress in their first game and were pushed out to 4.33 (10/3) by some bookies.

England remain 7.00 (6/1) third favourites but that reflects both the liabilities bookmakers have on them winning the competition and also that they have also guaranteed themselves a place in the last 16. The form of the English so far has been disappointing and that price looks very mean given how lacklustre their form has been.
