World Cup 2006 line up finalised

The final five teams for Germany 2006 were decided last night when Australia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Spain and Trinidad and Tobago won their qualifying matches.

Of the five, the bookies rate the Spanish side at 15.00 (14/1) most likely to triumph.

The Czechs, who have a good record in recent major tournaments, are on offer at a top price of 34.00 (33/1) with Bet Direct, a price that does not look likely to last.

Australia were the subject of a £1,000 bet at 251.00 (250/1) with Totesport yesterday and are now best priced at 151.00 (150/1). Although they have looked a poor side in the past, 11 of the squad players are at English Premier League clubs and bettors know they should under-rate any Australian sports side at their peril.

Switzerland, who went through on away goals against Turkey, are on offer at 101.00 (100/1) after an ill tempered match which saw a full-scale brawl in tunnel at the end of 90 minutes. One player was hospitalised after being kicked in the groin.

Trinidad and Tobago are the 5001.00 (5000/1) outsiders with Skybet, although most bookies have them on offer at around 751.00 (750/1).

Brazil remain the 4.33 (10/3) favourites for the 2006 World Cup.
