Although Newcastle missed a number of good opportunities, it was plain to see that AZ were the better side and they deserved their 2-0 win. This was a great win for the Dutch side, as Newcastle were fourth favourites for the title, at as short a price as 9.00 (8/1).
Current holders Seville, made it through to the quarter-finals by the skin of their teeth.
