Bet Asia takes a closer look at the Euro 2008 finals draw and how it has impacted on the betting markets.
France and Holland will both have their work cut out and this has been reflected in the odds. The 1998 World Champions are out from 8.50 (15/2) to 11.00 (10/1) with Centrebet, the Dutch side are out to 15.00 (14/1) with Centrebet from 11.00 (10/1).
Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: “It’s a nightmare draw for the big three in Group C and spare a thought for Romania who qualified so impressively. At least one of the fancied sides will fall at the group stages.”
The opening game of the tournament will see Switzerland face the Czech Republic, who have been slashed from 21.00 (20/1) to 15.00 (14/1) across the board.
Slaven Bilic was happy to receive a favourable draw despite the prospect of facing Germany in Group B. The Germans who will play Austria, Poland and Croatia have been trimmed for the title, in from 6.50 (11/2) to 6.00 (5/1) with NPbet.co.uk, Croatia remain on offer at 17.00 (16/1) with the same firm.
