La Liga: Osasuna v Barcelona Odds and Betting Preview

PAMPLONA, SPAIN – Osasuna host Barcelona this evening in their La Liga clash at the Reyno de Navarra Stadium. Barcelona start the game as firm favourites to secure three points, and can currently be backed to do so at a market best of 4/11 (bet £11 to make £4 profit) with Ladbrokes. For those punters anticipating an upset, however, Osasuna are on offer to prevail at 19/2 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is available at 4/1 with Coral.

Barcelona defeated Valencia 2-0 in the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie on Wednesday, securing their place in the final of the competition with a 3-1 win on aggregate. Guardiola’s side must now focus their attentions on La Liga, however, and more particularly on the task of chasing down Real Madrid, who are currently a massive seven points clear at the top of the table. The Catalan giants desperately need to beat Osasuna this afternoon if they are to maintain pressure on their rivals, but must do so without the assistance of long-term absentees Andreu Fontas, Ibrahim Afellay and David Villa. Osasuna, however, are unlikely to prove tough opposition. Patxi Izco’s side have not picked up a victory since their win over Villarreal in mid December – a winless streak that now stretches to nine matches.

In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 4/6 with Paddy Power, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 5/4 with Coral. With Barcelona’s attacking brand of football firmly in mind the bookmakers are not expecting a goalless stalemate from this game, and punters can therefore back under 0.5 goals being scored at odds as long as 16/1 with Ladbrokes.

Lionel Messi has been typically dangerous in front of goal this season, netting 23 goals in 21 league appearances. Messi is currently second in the La Liga top scorer rankings to Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 24 goals to his name. Unsurprisingly Messi starts today’s game as favourite to open the scoring, and can backed to do so at a market best of 13/5 with Bet Victor. Alexis Sanchez is also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and is on offer to score first at 4/1 with Ladbrokes, whilst Cesc Fabregas is available at 6/1 with Bet365. Osasuna’s most threatening player, on the other hand, is deemed to be Nino, who can be backed to break the deadlock at best odds of 12/1 with Paddy Power.

Barcelona are quoted at best odds of evens with Coral to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Barcelona is on offer at 7/2 with Ladbrokes. Draw/Osasuna is available at 20/1 with Betinternet, whilst Barcelona/Osasuna can be backed at odds as long as 75/1 with Paddy Power.
