MADRID, SPAIN -Â Real Madrid will be looking to continue their impressive run of form this Saturday evening, as they host neighbours Atletico in the Madrid Derby. Real are the overwhelming favourites for the match, with Paddy Power offering an industry best 1/5Â on Los Blancos recording a ninth straight league victory. Atletico are 16/1 with Bet365 to upset the hosts to claim their first Derby victory in twelve years. The Draw is quoted at a best-priced 7/1 with Victor Chandler.
Real head into derby standings weekend at the head of the La Liga after taking a 31 of a potential 35 points to open the season. Jose Mourinho’s men have been irresistible so far this season as they look to wrestle the La Liga title out of Barcelona’s grasp and currently sit three points clear of their great rivals. Los Blancos are on a phenomenal run of form at the moment, winning twelve straight in all competitions, and will be expected to make Atletico victim number thirteen this weekend to preserve the advantage in what looks set to be an intriguing title race. Real look set to welcome back Marcelo and Angel Di Maria to the side after injury but Brazilian playmaker Kaka will miss the contest with a calf problem.
Atletico have endured a disappointing campaign thus far and currently lie 9th in the La Liga table, a full 15 points off their city rivals. The statistics do not bode well for visitors heading into the clash, with Los Rojiblancos having lost four of their five away matches this season, scoring a paltry two goals in the process, whilst their free-scoring rivals have won five of five at home this season. The visitors' hopes of an improbable victory were dealt a major blow on Friday as star striker Radamel Falcao was ruled out of the clash with a muscle strain.
Real are 17/2 with William Hill to win the match by two goals to nil whilst 3-1 to the hosts is a 10/1 shot at Ladbrokes. Atletico can be backed at 50/1 to snatch a 1-0 victory at Bet365 whilst 2-1 to the visitors is a 40/1 shot with Victor Chandler. William Hill offer an industry best 16/1 on the 1-1 draw.
Real’s home league matches this season have been remarkably high scoring, with the Bernabeu faithful currently enjoying an average of six goals a game, and punters expecting another high scoring affair this evening can back or five or more goals to be scored at 15/8 with Stan James. William Hill are a best priced 6/5 for under 3.5 goals to be scred whilst under 2.5 goals is a 3/1 shot at the same firm.
In the First Goalscorer Market, Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo unsurprisingly heads the betting at a best-priced 9/4 with Betfred followed closely by Karim Benzema at 3/1 with Bet365. German playmaker Mesut Ozil is a 6/1 chance in the market with Coral whilst Xabi Alonso is a 16/1 shot with Ladbrokes. Eduardo Salvio is Atletico’s top chance in the market at 20/1 with Stan James.    Â
