La Liga: Valencia v Real Madrid Odds and Betting Preview

VALENCIA, SPAIN – Real Madrid travel away on Saturday evening for their eagerly anticipated La Liga clash against Valencia. Real have beaten their opponents in each of their last three encounters, and manager Jose Mourinho will expect his side to secure the same result in this crucial upcoming match. The bookmakers currently favour Real to finish the game with three points, and punters can back them to do so at best odds of 3/5 (bet £5 to make £3 profit) with Ladbrokes. Valencia, on the other hand, are available to win at 5/1 with Skybet, whilst the draw is on offer at 10/3 with Victor Chandler.

Real Madrid are currently three points clear of rivals Barcelona at the top of La Liga, having gained 28 points from their first 11 games. Saturday’s fixture against Valencia could prove to be a tricky encounter, however, as Unai Emery’s side boast an unbeaten record at home so far this season. Mourinho will be particularly concerned about the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned from international duty this week with a slight thigh strain. Travelling away to Valencia has not been easy for many sides so far this season (Barcelona drew 2-2 at the Estadio de Mestalla in September), and Mourinho will therefore want his Portuguese star to help unlock the Valencia defence. The stage is set for an intriguing contest.

In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 4/7 with Bet365, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 6/4 with William Hill. The bookmakers are clearly not anticipating a dreary goalless draw, however, and punters can back under 0.5 goals at longer odds of 16/1 with Boylesports.

There is currently a question mark looming over the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Real Madrid forward is still clear favourite to open the scoring on Saturday with all bookmakers. Ronaldo has already scored an astonishing 13 goals in 11 league games this season, and can currently be backed to be the first name on the score sheet on Saturday at best odds of 10/3 with Ladbrokes. Ronaldo’s team mate Karim Benzema is also deemed likely to open the scoring at 4/1 with Stan James. Valencia’s most dangerous striker, on the other hand, is Roberto Soldado, who has hit the net six times in La Liga this season. Soldado can currently be backed to break the deadlock at a market best of 8/1 with Blue Square.

Real Madrid are quoted at best odds of 11/8 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Real Madrid is on offer at 9/2 with William Hill. Draw/Valencia is available at 12/1 with Stan James, whilst those punters who think that Valencia will fight back to win the match after trailing at half time can back Real Madrid/Valencia at 45/1 with Paddy Power.
