La Liga: Real Madrid v Villarreal Odds and Betting Preview

MADRID, SPAIN – Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid side host under-performing Villarreal this Wednesday looking to move back above Barcelona in the La Liga standings. Real are short-priced favourites for the matchup, at a best price of 1/7 with Paddy Power. A surprise Villarreal victory is a best-priced 25/1 at Victor Chandler. SkyBet go 15/2 on the draw.

In-Form Real Madrid will be targeting a seventh consecutive victory on Wednesday evening as they take on a dangerous but out-of-form Villarreal side at the Bernabéu. Jose Mourinho’s side produced a magical display on Saturday evening to crush big-spending Málaga 4-0, as Los Blancos’ vast array of attacking talent combined for four goals for the fourth successive fixture. Real are firing on all cylinders at the moment as they look to wrestle back the La Liga title from Barcelona and will leapfrog their Catalan rivals in the standings with victory this evening.

Villarreal’s dire start to the new season continued on Sunday evening, as El Submarino Amarillo fell to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of surprise leaders Levante. Villarreal now sit a lowly 16th in the table and will need to turnaround their form quickly to have any hope of meeting pre-season predictions with a top six finish. Juan Carlos Garrido is under heavy pressure, with some reports suggesting Quique Sanchez Flores is set to relieve the 43 years old of his managerial duties, and another heavy defeat could spell the end of his tenure.

Real are 7/1 with Bet365 to win the match by two goal to nil whilst a 3-1 home win is a 10/1 shot at Boylesports. Villarreal can be backed at 70/1 with Paddy Power to snatch a 1-0 victory whilst 2-0 to the visitors is a massive 150/1 shot with Victor Chandler. William Hill offer an industry best 18/1 on the 1-1 draw whilst a 0-0 scoreline is a 33/1 chance at Boylesports.

Punters expecting a high scoring affair this evening can back four or more goals to be scored in the match at 8/11 with Stan James or five or more at 6/4 with Bet365. Ladbrokes are best priced for under 3.5 goals at 6/5 whilst under 2.5 goals is offered at 11/4 with William Hill.

Last season’s Pichichi winner Cristiano Ronaldo, whose hat trick last weekend against Malaga took him into double figures for the new campaign, is the favourite to open the scoring in the encounter at 2/1 with Paddy Power. In-form Argentine hit man Gonzalo Higuain, who has scored eight goals in his last four league matches, is a standout 10/3 shot in the market with Bet365. Brazilian International Kaká, who finally looks to be finding his feat at the Santiago Bernabéu, is available at 6/1 with Paddy Power.

Giuseppe Rossi looks set to be the Visitor’s main threat to open the scoring and the Italian International is 14/1 to grab the opener at Bet365 or 4/1 to score at anytime with William Hill. Cani is 40/1 to break the deadlock or 11/1 to score at any point in the match at Bet365.

The Match Kicks Off at 2100 BST and is live on Bet365’s video streaming service.
