La Liga: Barcelona v Sevilla Odds and Betting Preview

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Spanish champions Barcelona host Sevilla in their La Liga clash at the Camp Nou on Saturday. Pep Guardiola's side are currently unbeaten in the league, topping the table with seventeen points from their first seven games. Barcelona fans will be expecting their side to secure another victory in their upcoming match.

Barcelona start the match as clear favourites to win, and can be backed to do so at best odds of 2/11 (bet £11 to make £2 profit) with Ladbrokes. For those punters expecting an upset, however, Sevilla are available at 18/1 with Victor Chandler, whilst the draw is on offer at a stand out 15/2, also with Victor Chandler.

Barcelona beat Czech side Viktoria Plzen 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, an uncharacteristically low score line for the Catalan side at home. Barcelona have been utterly ruthless at the Camp Nou in La Liga so far this season, not only winning all four of their games but notching up a colossal 21 goals in the process without conceding. Guardiola's side will seek to play their trademark brand of high-possession attacking football on Saturday, and will hope to extend their 100 per cent home record with a win against their opponents.

Sevilla will not prove to be feeble opponents, however, even in the face of Barcelona's undeniable brilliance. Marcelino Garcia Toral's side have begun their campaign brightly, and are currently only two points behind their opponents. Critics will point out that Sevilla have not been properly tested this season, having not yet faced any of the other sides in the top five. Their will certainly receive that test on Saturday, however, and it remains to be seen how they cope with the greatest challenge of all – an on form Barcelona side playing in front of a jubilant home crowd

In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals is 1/3 with Skybet, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 12/5 with Bet365. The bookmakers are clearly not anticipating a bore draw, and punters can back under 0.5 goals at best odds of 25/1 with Paddy Power.

Argentinian ace Lionel Messi has been on superb form in a Barcelona shirt again this season, scoring ten goals already in La Liga. Messi is currently 2/1 favourite with Blue Square to be the first name on the score sheet on Saturday. Messi's strike partner David Villa is also thought likely to open the scoring at 11/4 with Skybet, whilst ex-Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas can be backed at 7/2 with Boylesports. Sevilla's most dangerous attacking player is thought to be Alvaro Negredo, who is currently on offer to break the deadlock at 12/1 with Paddy Power.

Barcelona are quoted at best odds of 1/2 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Barcelona can be backed at 4/1 with Blue Square. Draw/Sevilla is on offer at 33/1 with Boylesports, whilst those punters who think that Sevilla will pull off the impossible and win the match after trailing at half time can back Barcelona/Sevilla at odds as long as 150/1 with Boylesports.
