FA Cup: Coventry City vs Southampton Odds and Betting Preview

COVENTRY, UK - Coventry City will host Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup this Saturday afternoon in an encounter that pits top of the Championship against bottom. Southampton, whose last away win in the league came at Coventry, are favourites for the match, best priced at 11/10 (bet £10 to make £11 profit) with William Hill.

A draw is best priced at 5/2 with Victor Chandler and a win for the Sky Blues is priced at 11/4 with Paddy Power. Despite their respective league positions these two sides recent form is almost exactly opposite, and it is the bottom side Coventry who can take the confidence from their recent performances and results into this Cup encounter.

Before losing 1-0 to West Ham on Monday, Coventry's wins against Bristol City and Brighton saw them move briefly off the bottom of the table while Southampton losses to the same teams has seen their lead at the top of the table vanish, and the Saints now only sit ahead of West Ham on goal difference.

The latest meeting between these two was a six-goal thriller at the Ricoh Arena on the 5th of November, and it certainly was one to remember as Coventry battled back from 2-0 down only to concede two late goals as the Saints claimed only their third league win on the road all season.

In today's match over 2.5 goals is priced at Evens with bet365 and under 2,5 goals is priced at 5/6 with Stan James. If you fancy another goal-fest though, over 3.5 goals is priced at 11/4 with Boyle Sports and over 4.5 goals is top priced at 6/1 with William Hill.

Southampton will definitely be without talismanic frontman Ricky Lambert, who is suspended after his sending off in Southampton's 3-0 defeat against Brighton, but Nigel Adkins is expected to ring a number of changes to his side for this cup match and Lambert would have been unlikely to play anyway.

For Coventry Andy Thorn had said he is likely to field a full-strength side against the Championship leaders and hopes his team can harness the magic of the Cup to get back to winning ways. 22 year-old Lukas Jutkiewicz is priced at 7/1 with Blue Square to open the scoring in the tie and a generous 12/5 with Skybet to score at anytime, and the former Southampton fan and academy player could find himself playing for Southampton by the end of the month having continued to be the subject to much speculation.

In the half-time/full-time market, Southampton/Southampton is priced at 12/5 with Ladbrokes, Draw/Southampton is priced at 9/2 with Paddy Power and Draw/Coventry is best priced at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.

The game kicks-off at 15:00 GMT
